We worked with Adventurers and Scientists for Conservation to gather soil samples along the river. A University of Colorado PhD candidate is analyzing these soil samples for charcoal content. This preliminary study could ultimately provide the basis for better understanding of charcoal export out of burned forests and aid in carbon sequestration models.

We also measured dissolved oxygen, temperature, salinity, pH, nutrients, and turbidity daily. We are working with partners from Marine Ventures and Below the Surface to make our findings publicly available.
